At the end of the 2014 season, the team decided to shift the focus away from the MicroTransat challenge and refocus on the International Robotic Sailing Regatta (sailboat.org). The team decided to undertake a new challenge of building a twin-hull (catamaran) boat to compete in the IRSR.
Throughout the 2014/2015 season, the boat later named Gaelforce2 was designed and constructed. The design proved challenging, as none of the team members had much experience with designing catamarans, and many software and electrical difficulties arose. The team persevered, and with the hard work of students over the Summer 2015, Gaelforce2 placed second at IRSR 2015 in St. John’s.
